Ken Ampy serves as Astyra Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer.  In this role, he is responsible for the company’s overall leadership, culture, and vision; raising the business community’s awareness of the corporation. His knowledge of technology, business, and problem-solving spans more than 30 years; resulting in nationwide recognition for the company’s 7-times appearance on the prestigious list of INC. Magazine’s Fastest Growing Companies in America.


Mr. Ampy has been the recipient of numerous personal awards throughout his professional career.  They include:

A country boy at heart, Mr. Ampy is very active in the business community. He is directly involved with and has held senior leadership roles in numerous business and non-profit organizations over the years to include:

In 2005, Mr. Ampy was appointed by Governor Mark Warner and subsequently reappointed in 2009 by Governor Tim Kaine, to serve on the Board of Visitors of his alma mater Old Dominion University. During his 8-year tenure with the University, Mr. Ampy served as the Chairman of the Academic and Research Advancement Committee, Chairman of the Student Advancement Committee, and as Secretary of the Board. In 2014, Mr. Ampy was once again a gubernatorial appointee when Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed him to the Virginia Biotech Research Park Authority Board; then reappointed in 2018. He serves as Governance Committee Chair. In 2016, Governor McAuliffe also appointed Mr. Ampy to the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) Board where he served as Council Chairman and chaired the Academic Affairs committee.  Mr. Ampy was subsequently reappointed to both boards by Governor Ralph Northam.

Mr. Ampy is also a business scholar having attended Executive Management Programs at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. Mr. Ampy has rounded out his leadership development as a participant in Leadership Metro Richmond and LEAD Virginia.
